Right then, the history of just depends, the site you are currently browsing. It all started with a small site that my best friend of the time, Rianne, and myself made back in 2002 called A Tribute to Fan Fiction. It was pretty small, didn't get many hits, but it opened a new world for both Rianne and I, a world of building websites, writing fan fiction, and reading it too. The site didn't last long and after a year of being online (on both angelfire and geocities) with an EZboard, I finally closed it when I realized that neither Rianne or myself were that into running the site.

However while Rianne was done with the site biz, I found I wasn't. First was a spuffy site called Let Me Rest in Peace, then a roswell site called Some Like it Polar till finally I realized it would be smarter to create a site I could shelve all my works of fan fiction. Thus Silent Dreams was born on geocities October 27, 2003. During this time, Silent Dreams would go through several layout changes, host all my fan fiction and art, and even generate awards to the passer by while I worked endlessly on getting my father to allow me to buy my own domain. March of 2004 just a few months later, I found my dream coming true. I researched many different hosting sites and finally settled on dream host. Silent Dreams then became Just Depends.

Since it's conception in 2004, just depends has grown to host not only Let Me Rest in Peace and Some Like it Polar (both which have closed since), but also a layout/fanlisting collective, my online art portfoilio, and coming soon hopefully by the end of this year, another site dedicated to creative writing and art. I've had this site for four glorious years now and while it's hit count might have not increased much since it's opening I plan to have it for another four, hopefully even more.

just depends wasn't always known as it is. Back in it's earlier conception, it was known as Silent Dreams, as evidence on past layouts. However, when I went to buy my domain, it became quickly apparent that the name it had started with would not be the name it would finish with. Thus I was faced with the challenge of coming up with a new name. 2004 and of course my inspiration was blink 182, my all time favorite band. That's right. You can blame Mark, Tom, and Scott (not Travis) for the name the site now bares. Really, you can also blame my adolesent brain for allowing it too. Why? The song behind the name is none other then the song Depends, a song that makes fun of the adult diaper, Depends. That's the honest to god truth. Was I aware of what the song was at the time? No, not really. I just thought it had a very catchy tune. Now a days, I like to pretend that there's another meaning behind the name, but unfortunately there isn't. Will I change the name? No. Because then it simply wouldn't be my site. And that's that.
